This compilation began when a group of passionate working musicians overseeing the band members community on social website Reddit decided to get together to organise a charity compilation album featuring the best handpicked music by members the community. Skip forward a few months of hard work, dedication and determination and the result is The /r/Bandmembers EP. A high quality 5 track release in aid of the Madison Area Music Association, a non-profit organisation trying to foster the next generation of musicians by putting instruments in the hands of kids who might not otherwise have them as well as funding youth music programs. The compilation represents the full diversity and talent of the /r/bandmembers community with songs ranging from electropop to acoustic rock:
Curious Quail, an alternative and orchestral rock band with influences such as John Williams and Matthew Good lent their song “The Villain” to the compilation.
Iowa-based Rock band MARCATO are featured on the compilation with the track “Storm.”
Vancouver rockers “No Island” offer their self-described “modern vintage rock” “Bad For Business” single recorded live in the studio with no overdubs or edits.
Indie Rock duo “Outside Animals” taking inspiration from take inspiration from the Strokes, Weezer and Jimmy Eat World contributed the song “Adrian.”
The release concludes with Boston based Nemes energetic folk rock song, “Everest Isle”.
